2 - Disappointing beach

The town is lovely but the beach is small. The day we were there the waves were too rough with lots of seaweed. We went to Praia Angrinha (first two photos) instead, Ferraguda. Very quiet, easy parking and walk to calm waters.

If you’re staying in the city and needing an escape then this beach is pretty good. Get the train from Cais de Sodre, takes about 25-30 mins then a 10-25 mins walk. The beach is pretty long and there are quite a few places to eat/drink and loads of loungers with parasols, we paid €25 for 2 plus parasol.
4 - Nice beach

Nice beach but very very busy!! It is summer so we expected a crowd but it was busier than any beach I’ve ever seen! We paid (€25) for an umbrella ans chair and stayed back on beach away from crowds (worth it!). Very pretty beach and we enjoyed our day.
